Salty Jackal Backpackers & Surf Camp is located in Swakopmund, a relaxed town on our wave-rich coastline, nestled between the Atlantic Ocean and the Namib Desert dunes.

For those who enjoy surfing, adventure and vast, natural landscapes - this is the place for you.

For adrenaline junkies - how about skydiving over the world's oldest desert or sand-boarding & quad-biking on its ever-shifting dunes? For nature & wildlife enthusiasts, how about a 3 day safari to Etosha Namtional Park or Sossusvlei?

The Salty Jackal is the kind of place that feels like home. It is small and cozy, and the staff and owner Ollie welcome guests and take them out as if they are friends rather than strangers. The resident dog is friendly and sweet, and the cat cuddled with me at night. I was sad to only get to stay here one night before heading out on a road trip. Places like these with such friendly and helpful people warm your heart and give you a nice dose of home comfort when you're on the road for so long. Can't recommend it enough!” (2019)

“Oliver's space is just what you expect a backpackers to be - but only in the good sense! There were lots of helpful people around to give us suggestions about where to go and how to get around. There are notes left around his place to help make sure everyone is on the same page and we really like that - especially the reminder to SAVE WATER when using the toilet facilities. We only stayed one night, but it was pleasant and the beds were comfy. Oliver was a great communicator and flexible with our arrival time making it much less stressful for us. The location was also walking distance from the main city area so we could even walk at night to and from his place to the restaurants.
